Objectives of BUETAA
The Association’s major objectives are the
following:
1. To enhance, promote and uphold the image and heritage of The
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology
(BUET) as a Center of Excellence in technical
education and research in Bangladesh and abroad.
2. To support efforts for enhancing the quality of education and
research, and for establishing state-of-the-art
educational and research facilities at BUET.
3. To facilitate intellectual exchanges between BUET and advanced
institutions in other countries.
4. To offer career counseling to students, graduates and others
associated with BUET.
5. To enhance and uphold professional competency and integrity of BUET
graduates.
6. To use the experience gained in pursuing the above objectives for
promoting the quality of education and research in
the entire country.
7. To appropriately link the various societies or clubs of BUET alumni
that may exist in Bangladesh and in foreign
countries with the Association.
8. To develop stronger bond and cohesion among the members and
well-wishers of the Association.
9. To provide support to the Association members and their families
and the students of BUET in distress, and to
organize humanitarian activities in times of
national calamities.
Strategies for Achieving Objectives
The above-stated objectives would be achieved
through well-formulated programs and activities,
including the following:
(a)
Conducting seminars, workshops, and discussion forums on relevant
issues.
(b)
Arranging expert consultations and studies to identify specific
areas in BUET’s academic and professional programs
that may require to be enhanced in order to meet the
present and future development needs of Bangladesh
and, at the same time, to enable BUET graduates
remain competitive with graduates of advanced
institutions abroad.
(c)
Providing support to BUET authorities in implementing the
recommendations from the above-indicated expert
consultations and studies.
(d)
Awarding scholarships, citations, honors, etc. to recognize
outstanding achievements of students and faculty.
(e)
Arranging renowned guest speakers from foreign institutions for
intellectual interchange and for building useful
institutional linkages with reputable foreign
universities.
(f)
Organizing and supporting activities for enhancing the role and
image of BUET graduates in nation building and
creating a modern, progressive civil society in
Bangladesh.
(g)
Developing a database of all members, which would include
information on areas of their special expertise and
interest, and maintaining regular communication with
them through mails, publications, web page, etc.
that would facilitate their participation in the
activities of the Association.
(h)
Arranging social activities such as reunions, picnics, dinners,
cultural programs, and exchange visits for greater
social cohesion among members.
(i)
Organizing activities to provide support and relief to members,
their families, and students of BUET in distress,
and to affected people during national calamities.
The Association will organize activities and
information campaigns to continually expand its
membership base and to involve them in the various
activities in the pursuit of its objectives.
Contributions of Members and Patrons will be the
primary financial resource required for supporting
the various programs and activities of the
Association for achieving its objectives |
